Qantas-The Australian Airline-Extra Credit Opportunity

Qantas is the airline of Australia, "The Australian Airline," as they say about themselves. Go to their website, www.qantas.com

1. When you get to the website, click "our company" at the top, then, click "fleet development." This section discusses the airplanes that Qantas flies. Scroll down to the bottom and you will see 3 pictures of their planes titled "Flying Art." Qantas has painted some of their planes in these unique colors as a symbol to the Aborigines. Click on one of them and it will show you the plane's colors and give you a brief summary about the artist and the history of the design. Write a summary about this art design---its meaning, importance, what it represents, and why it was chosen.

2. Pretend you are going to take a trip to Australia. Create a travel itinerary (an itinerary is a schedule) using the Qantas website. Find a flight from San Francisco to Australia. Choose what city in Australia you will fly in to. Don't forget to choose a return flight. Be sure to write down the flight numbers, what times the flights depart and land, and total flight time going to and from. Also, how much will your flight cost?

3. Create another flight itinerary, only this time take a flight (or many flights) within Australia. Or, take a flight from Australia to New Zealand. Maybe you want to fly from Sydney to Perth. Or from Melbourne to Wellington, New Zealand. Write the cities you will be traveling to and from, the flight times, and costs of the flights.

If you are up for another challenge, find a hotel to stay in during your visit to Australia. What is the hotel name and how much will the room cost per night?

Have fun and happy research!!!
